On the eve of Trump’s inauguration, Arcade Fire and Mavis Staples gift us with a new song: I Give You Power. The band’s Win Butler has been very vocal about his distaste for Trump. We can’t say if this defiant song is a direct response to PEOTUS’ inauguration tomorrow, but I’m gonoing to say it’s quite intentional. Butler and Staples exchange the lyricss “I give you power, I give you power / But now I say, I give you power, I can take it away.”
If only it were that easy.
