Bernard Sumner: Interview, New Albums

Bad Lieutenant - 2009Bernard Sumner is a busy bloke these days. Not only is he working with a new band that includes Phil Cunningham and Jake Evans, he also reveals he’s got a new synth-based LP in the works with producer Stuart Price aka Jacques Lu Cont (Madonna, the Killers.)


Bad Lieutenant
boasts a line-up of Sumner, latter day New Order guitarist Phil Cunningham, and newcomer Jake Evans. Their debut LP, Never Cry Another Tear, also features Blur bassist Alex James and New Order/Joy Division drummer Stephen Morris. the album is out October 6 on the band’s own Triple Echo imprint. The trio will be backed by Morris on drums when they play European dates starting late next month. (Rumor has it hey also plan to hit the U.S. before the end of the year.)
