It’s official. After over a year of speculation, former New Order members Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris and Phil Cunningham have formed a new band without ex-bassist Peter Hook. There is no word as to weather or not Gillian will be a part of the group.
The collective, Bad Lieutenant, features Blur’s Alex James on bass duties, Sumner told BBC Newsbeat that they have already completed recording an album, set for release in October.
“I’m very proud of it, it’s a very good album,” Sumner said. “It’s pretty guitary too because we’ve got three guitarists in the band.”
New Order formally split last summer, with a big messy war of words from Hook, after falling out with his former bandmates.
“We split into two factions, there’s me Steve and Phil,” Sumner added. “The other is Peter Hook. Basically he left the band, that’s all I want to say about it.” (via NME, photo by Anton Corbijn)
I love that Hookie looks like a sleazy bear in this picture. Not that I don’t find it kind of attractive.
Yes! I also picked it cause he looked grumpy and pouty while the other three were having loads of fun, which kind of sums things up nicely.
