Eisbaer isn’t technically a Christmas song, but Nouvelle Vague’s version of this German punk classic fits perfectly into any Holiday playlist. “Eisbär” (translation: polar bear) was a 1980 “cult” song composed by the Swiss band Grauzone. It first appeared on the 1980 compilation album Swiss Wave – The Album. It was later collected on the Grauzone album Die Sunrise Tapes (1998). In 2006, The French band Nouvelle Vague recorded a version of the song for their album Bande à Part. That’s the version we’ve linked to below.
