We’ve heard rumors off and on for the past few months, but now it’s official. Daft Punk is composing the soundtrack for Tron 2.0.
For those of you too young to remember, Tron is the 1982 sci-fi classic, staring Jeff Bridges. I fondly remember renting a projector and Tron on 16mm for a whopping $75 back in 1985 when I was in charge of entertainment at 4-H camp. The Disney sequel will see Jeff Bridges reprise his role as Kevin Flynn, while Joseph Kosinski will direct the film.
The previous film’s director, Steven Lisberger, returns as producer. The film is scheduled for a 2011 release, according to Upcoming Film Scores.
The soundtrack for ‘Tron 2.0’ will be Daft Punk’s first complete film score. In 2007, the duo released their directorial debut, ‘Daft Punk’s Electroma’.
