Of the two of us, Paige is the better xx fan. I finally started to listen to the first record more and more, and for about two months, it was one of the few things I listened to on repeat. It had what I like most about pop records; it was a grower. Also, the album clocked in just over 40 minutes, which is also another sign of a good record. There is little (or less) filler than a band trying their hardest to fill up 80 minutes on a CD, and it makes you want to listen to it more often. I’m hoping the new single, “Angels,” grows on me a little, or that it’s at least properly placed within (crosses fingers) a great album. I know, I know, it’s The xx – what could, should, or would, I expect from a sophomore first single? Let’s just say, it’s not a barn burner; it didn’t take my breath away, but I didn’t fall asleep either! Either way, we’re looking forward to their only festival appearance in the U.S. this year at Treasure Island Music Festival wtih M83, Gossip, Imperial Teen, Public Enemy, and many more! What do you guys think? Trendy, or timeless?
