COLORCAST THREE: Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves!

My Dear Friend, John Campos (DJ Toast) and I will be spinning 80’s tunes for an amazing cause in Portland this weekend!  I always love the trip down to PDX and doing it with great friends always makes it better!  The ultimate, modern philanthropists, The Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence are throwing a party for an amazing cause which is close to the heart of our closest Sister, Sister Helen Baak.  From the invite:

Dig out your leg warmers, sweater dress and geometric earrings… the Sisters are taking you back to the 80’s! Join us at Crush on Saturday, March 26 for a trip back in time with The Sister’s 80’s Mix Tape. We’ve got DJ Up Above! and DJ Toast from Seattle coming down to spin all the pop and new wave hits you remember from back in the day, along with some great performances by Mylar Black, Sister Dixie Rupt + many more. As always, the Sisters are raising money for a great cause. This time it’s the Healing and Empowerment Program (HEP) at Quest Center for Integrative Health, a program for women with breast cancer, and the Sister’s Grant Fund.

And on a personal note from our pal Andy K. (aka Sister Helen Baak):

“This event is a very personal for me, I’m doing it in honor of my/our friend Jeannie whom we lost this summer to breast cancer. I remember hanging out in her living room blasting Billy Idol’s “Mony Mony” so many times the neighbors came over and asked us to play a different song. LOL!”

If you cant go, you can always drop a few bucks to Portland Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence.  This link will get you to e-mail’s and snail mails which will help The Sisters’ AMAZING cause(s).

I’ve edited an hour of a recent 80’s set from one of Seattle’s best bars for music geeks, The Bus Stop.  This is a sampling of what you might hear, but because it’s a Saturday night you’ll hear all of you favorite 80’s pop and new wave hits and probably less of our obscure stuff!  But who doesn’t like a Depeche Mode or O.M.D. b-side now and again?

If you’re in Portland and you drop by CRUSH – you best be sayin’ hey – you smell what I’m cookin’?
