Not a good season for indie marriages. Last week Thurston and Kim of Sonic Youth threw in the towel. Today US Weekly reports that after two years of marriage, Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard have separated. US Weekly spoke with the couples manager and reports that the separation was “mutual and amicable” and that “there was no third party involved.”
If there’s only one positive thing to come out of the split, we expect a beautiful album of broken hearted Death Cab For Cutie songs. Codes and Keys was way too upbeat for me.
