Catching Up With Beat Connection

Our local Sunny Seattleite Sons are moving headlong into a proper pop career as fast as I’ve seen from most Northwest bands in the recent past.  Our dear friends Dumb Eyes have created a new video for Beat Connection and it’s a real treat.  I had the pleasure of seeing about 80 kids lose their mind during one of their sets a few weeks ago on a Monday night at Havana on Seattle’s Capitol Hill.  As we’ve previously reported, Beat Connection are our local chill heroes.   Their balearic aethsetic  is right up there with current hit makers Washed Out, Air France and Boat Club.  But Beat Connection take it from chill to elation when they get the crowd dancing, a hard thing to do in a club setting these days.  It’s still a head scratcher to me why Seattleites get shy about dancing.  Believe me, no one is watching you – and as the old Japanese proverb says, “Were all idiots whether we dance or not, so we may as well dance.”

Beat Connection are now doing business overseas now that they are on THE UP AND COMING LABEL, Moshi Moshi (who also have Hercules and Love Affair on their roster.)  They’ll be opening for Of Montreal on some upcoming dates and they even have a few dates in the UK, which you can see after the jump.  We wish them the best of luck.  I’m sure they’ll have these tiny pubs bursting like the crotch of a pair of skinny jeans.Beat Connection UK dates:

5/13 The Great Escape (Brighton)
5/14 The Great Escape (Brighton)
5/19 Stag & Dagger (London)
5/21 Sound City (Liverpool)
