If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you damn well know Anton Corbijn is my favorite photographer. This world-renowned photographer and music video director has worked with everyone from U2, Nirvana, and Joy Division to R.E.M., David Bowie, and Metallica. Corbijn is a master behind the lens and in Shadow Play: The Making of Anton Corbijn we get a great history on the man and also get to see him behind the scenes working on his first feature film, the Ian Curtis biopic, Control.
Shadowplay is Written + Directed by Josh Whiteman, Produced by Jason Byrne, Cinematography by Marin Johnson. Highly recommended for anyone with the slightest interest in photography, music, or art. I hope it screens in San Francisco soon, but for now, get thee to the Bloor Cinema if you live in Toronto. Screens on May 7 at 9:15 p.m. at the Bloor Cinema and on May 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bloor Cinema.
